POSITION AVAILABLE-Rutherford County has a full time Real Property Appraiser I position available. Reports to the Revenue Director.  Position appraises residential dwellings and commercial buildings according to code, studies building plans and information pertaining to sales, prepares field cards, appraises lots in subdivisions or other land splits, determines market value, uses a variety of Tax Office records to obtain data concerning location, owner and dimensions of property, reviews appraisals and determines whether or not assessment should be modified, defends values and makes recommendations to the Board of Equalization and Review, resolves new construction and land value complaints, assists taxpayers in correcting records of real property listing, and other duties as assigned:  Graduation from high school with Bachelors preferred in field of study, sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of position including understanding of three approaches to value regarding cost, sales comparison, and income, Certification as a Tax Appraiser by the Ad Valorem Tax Division of the NC Department of Revenue and certification by the NC Association of Assessing required within 2 - 3 years of employment. POSITION AVAILABLE-Rutherford County has a Customer Service Representative position available in the Revenue Department. An employee in this class performs a variety of customer service such as clerical and customer service duties in the listing, billing and/or collection of taxes and maintenance of tax records. Essential duties include greeting taxpayers, both walk-ins and callers, and assisting them in locating the proper staff to answer their questions. Duties include, but not limited to, data entry of tax listing into computerized databases, assisting taxpayers to list property ownership and to respond to inquiries on property records. Accuracy is required in making calculations, handling money for petty cash in listing and in entering data into the computer. Some independent judgment and initiative is exercised within limits of prescribed policies. Tact, courtesy, and diplomacy are required in dealing with sensitive issues and/or difficult customers. Work is performed under the supervision of a section supervisor and evaluated by observation, review of records, periodic audits, feedback from customers and annual performance evaluations. Provides back up to other staff. Performs additional duties as required. Desirable Education and Experience: Graduation from high school and some experience in working with tax, real estate and/or collections operations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. POSITION AVAILABLE-Rutherford County Solid Waste Department has a Mechanic position available.  This position is responsible for repairing and maintaining a variety of vehicles and equipment.  At the Direction of the Solid Waste Supervisor, conducts scheduled preventive maintenance functions, tune ups, checking lights, tires, brake linings, wiper blades, horns, suspension, diagnoses, repairs, and overhauls brakes, ignition and fuel systems, air conditioning, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and differentials. Operates equipment such as lift jacks and air guns.  Performs safety inspections.  Prepares daily work reports and inventory control and other duties as assigned.  Minimum Qualifications:  Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field, sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with completion of an apprenticeship or one to two years experience. Must possess clean NC Driver’s license and optional CDL. May be exposed to DOC inmates during the course of the day and may need to pick up or take back to DOC facility.  Hours Mon-Fri 7:00 am -3:30 pm, Saturday rotations. POSITION AVAILABLE-Rutherford County Maintenance has a part time seasonal position available. The ideal candidate must be 18 years of age or older.  The duties of this position are to mow, edge, and trim county grounds including parks, pull weeds and rake leaves, perform general grounds cleanup, pressure wash buildings, and paint as assigned.  Candidate will be responsible to operate a variety of power-driven equipment such as mowers, hedgers, blowers, and other small engine equipment used in grounds work. Additional duties may be assigned.  Applicant must be experienced in the operation of power-driven equipment and must follow all safety standards as directed.  Work is physical labor and is primarily outside with exposures to heat, cold, wind, odors, and noise. POSITION AVAILABLE-Rutherford County, NC is seeking applicants for the position of EMS Shift Supervisor to perform administrative and supervisory work, supervise ten (10) employees, prepare scheduling of personnel, maintain day-to-day operations, respond to dispatched 911 calls in a QRV, and other duties as assigned.  This position reports to the Assistant Director and work is conducted on a 12 hour shift rotation. POSITION AVAILABLE - Rutherford County has a part time Heavy Equipment Operator position available. Position reports to the Solid Waste Director.  Work involves a variety of tasks, including loading, packing and covering refuse at the Landfill using heavy equipment such as front loader, dozer, and dump trucks. Main duties will be performed at the Transfer Station and C&D. Position will also be required to bushhog as assigned.  Minimum requirements:  Clean driving record.  Knowledge of equipment safety, driving skills and county geography.  Must have ability to get along with the general public.  Work is performed indoors and outdoors, subject to weather conditions and is classified as heavy labor.  Must be able to lift 50 lbs and push 100 lbs. POSITION AVAILABLE –Part time van driver for Rutherford County Transit Department.  Position requires ability to drive a fifteen (15) passenger van.  Must assist elderly and/or passengers with a disability to board and/or leave the vehicle, must be able to load, position, secure, and unload persons in wheelchairs on lift equipped vehicles (This requires ability to pull, push, bend over, stoop and get down on hands and knees).
