Rutherford County has an EMS Billing and Compliance Officer position available. This position will develop, implement, train and audit all compliance and privacy protocols and policies of the EMS compliance plan to ensure all regulations and laws are being met to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct. This position is also responsible for overseeing billing operations and serves as the liaison between Rutherford County EMS and the contracted billing agency. Position requires analytical thinking and deductive reasoning to develop reports and benchmarks along with Key Performance Indicators. Applicant must have knowledge of standard account practices including Microsoft Excel, state and federal HIPAA and compliance laws, and preferred understanding of Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance practices and processes. Position reports to the EMS Director. Hours Mon thru Fri 8:30-5:00. Min req. Bachelors Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. POSITION AVAILABLE –Part time van driver for Rutherford County Transit Department. Position requires ability to drive a fifteen (15) passenger van. Must assist elderly and/or handicapped adults to board and leave the vehicle, must be able to load, position, secure and unload persons in wheelchairs on lift equipped vehicle (This requires ability to pull, push, bend over, stoop and get down on hands and knees). Must be able to operate 2-way radio to maintain radio contact. Requires frequent contact with the public, courtesy, and tact. Requires knowledge of county and regional geography. Reports to the Operations Manager. Hours are based on need Monday through Friday, wages $9:44 per hour. Minimum requirements: valid N.C. driver’s license, CDL with passenger endorsement preferred, excellent driving record, five years experience as a licensed driver, graduation from high school, pre-employment drug test and DOT physical. Rutherford County has a full time Real Property Appraiser I position available. Reports to the Revenue Director. Position appraises residential and commercial buildings according to state property tax law and policy, studies building plans and information pertaining to sales, prepares field cards, appraises lots in subdivisions or other land splits, determines market value, uses a variety of Tax Office records to obtain data concerning location, owner and dimensions of property, reviews appraisals and determines whether or not assessment should be modifed, defends values and makes recommendations to the Board of Equalization and Review, resolves new construction and land value complaints, assists taxpayers in correcting records of real property listing, and other duties as assigned: Graduation from high school or sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of position, Certification as a Tax Appraiser by the Ad Valorem Tax Division of the NC Department of Revenue and certification by the NC Association of Assessing required within two years of the next general county reappraisal. Rutherford County Revenue Department has a Tax Collection Technician position open: Work involves determination of and collection of current and delinquent property taxes, occupancy taxes and other fees. Mails delinquent notices and assists delinquent taxpayers with payment schedules, works with auditors on questions and documents, inputs data regarding accounting functions in the system, verifies accuracy of reports, maintains logs of tax payments received, balance and reconcile cash drawers and ledgers, and prepares and delivers bank deposits. Assist taxpayers, attorneys and paralegals with inquiries regarding tax payments; responds to questions via telephone and in person; refers taxpayers to appropriate officials, mortgage holders and others in determining current or back taxes due; and other duties as assigned. Requires knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word, Outlook. Requires courtesy and tact dealing with the general public. $26,655 plus benefits. Min req: High School diploma, knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with training in the field of work with 1-2 years of experience. EMT-Paramedic Full Time Position
Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services is currently accepting applications for EMT-Paramedic full time positions. Rutherford County, located in Western North Carolina consists of 564 square miles and an annual population of 64,000. Annual call volume averages 13,000 per year including the convalescent division. RCEMS operates (5) EMT-P level 911 trucks from (4) bases in the County and (4) EMT-P level convalescent trucks from (1) base. The 911 trucks work a 24/48 schedule and the convalescent trucks work a sliding schedule based on need of trucks. Salary Range is $40,000-$45,000 include overtime.
All applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent; hold a valid driver’s license and current EMT-P credential with NCOEMS in good standing. Individuals not holding credentials from another state and/or National Registry must meet requirement of legal recognition by the NC Office of EMS. ALS candidates must possess BLS, ACLS, PALS/PEPP & PHTLS/ITLS/ATT. All candidates must possess or obtain NIMS/ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 prior to employment. Candidates are required to submit to pre-employment drug screening, motor vehicle record check and background checks.

Rutherford County Sheriff's Office Is Seeking Experienced Full-Time Telecommunicators for

Position is supervised by the Communications Director. Work involves operating a computerized work station while answering emergency and non-emergency calls. Work requires ability to multi-task, ability to func-tion in high stress situations while remaining calm, having patience with callers who are under stress, frightened or angry. Position involves dis-patching of Law Enforcement, Medical Personnel and Firefighters. Tele-communicators work in a confined area under constant exposure to radio traffic, ringing telephones, and conversations occurring simultaneously.
Minimum requirements: must be 21 years of age, High School Diploma, proficient in computer keyboarding, must be able to pass an onsite aptitude test. Applicant must have experience as a Telecommunicator.
Potential applicant must also pass drug test and background check. Usual work schedule is twelve hours. Hours may be scheduled for days, eve-nings, weekends, or holidays. Salary range 29,000 - 31,350 includes overtime and benefits.

Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office is seeking part time detention officers for the Rutherford County Detention Center. Duties include direct supervision, processing, classification, transporting and safety of inmates. Applicants must have good communication skills, be 21 years of age, have a high school diploma, pass drug test and pass an extensive criminal background check. Applicant must meet Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office requirements and be eligible for certification by NC Sheriffs’ Training and Standards Commission.
