POSITION AVAILABLE - Rutherford County has a full time position as a Utility Worker available at the Landfill. Position reports to the Solid Waste Director. Work involves a variety of tasks, including loading, packing and covering refuse at the Landfill using heavy equipment such as a wheel loader, dozer, track hoe and roll-off truck. Also involves driving and picking up solid waste and recyclables on a scheduled route. Main duties will be performed at the Transfer Station loading trucks with waste and recyclables. Responsible for recording mileage or hours driven. Must be able to assist in the garage area performing mechanical work on all vehicles. Minimum requirements: CDL license with two years experience and a clean driving record. Knowledge of safety, defensive driving skills and county geography. Must have ability to get along with the general public. Work is performed indoors and outdoors, subject to weather conditions and is classified as heavy labor. Must be able to lift 50 lbs and push 100 lbs. Drug testing required. Hours Mon thru Fri 8:00-4:30, occasional Saturday work 7:30-12:30. Annual Salary $26,655. Position Available: Rutherford County Airport has a part time Airport Service Personnel position available. Job involves routine maintenance and operations: refueling aircraft, positioning aircraft, maintain runway and hanger lifts, maintaining and cleaning terminal, main hanger and flight school building. Must be able to be competent in driving a straight drive truck to position the aircraft. Min require: High School diploma with 3-5 years experience in the field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Job requires heavy lifting and towing, inside and outside work, exposure to dust and fumes, constant contact with the general public. Customer service skills essential. COUNTY MANAGER-Rutherford County (population 67,810) a dynamic, beautiful, economically growing County located in the foothills of North Carolina, is recruiting for the position of County Manager. The Manager is the Chief Executive Officer for the county and reports to a five member Board of Commissioners. The Manager supervises the administration of all county offices, county boards, commissions, and agencies. The Manager is responsible for managing a $50 +million budget and supervising approximately 550 full/part time employees. Applicants must have an understanding of the operations and organization of public administration principles and best practices. Effective oral and verbal communication skills are essential to establish and build relationships with citizens, community leaders and organizations, businesses, government officials, media representatives, commissioners, department heads, and employees. Minimum requirements: Degree in public administration, business administration or a comparable field with a minimum of five years experiences in County Management or an equivalent combination of education and experience. POSITION AVAILABLE –Part time van driver for Rutherford County Transit Department. Position requires ability to drive a Multi passenger vehicle. Must also assist elderly and/or handicapped adults to board and leave the vehicle, must be able to load, secure and unload persons in wheelchairs on lift equipped vehicle. Must be able to operate an open air radio to maintain radio contact. Requires frequent contact with the public, courtesy, and tact. Requires knowledge of county and regional geography. Reports to the Operations Manager. Hours are based on need up to 19 hrs/week. Transit operates from approx 6 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, wages are $9.44 per hour. Minimum requirements: valid N.C. driver’s license, excellent driving record, five years experience as a licensed driver, graduation from high school, pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing required. EMT-Paramedic Full Time Position
Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services is currently accepting applications for EMT-Paramedic full time positions. Rutherford County, located in Western North Carolina consists of 564 square miles and an annual population of 64,000. Annual call volume averages 13,000 per year including the convalescent division. RCEMS operates (5) EMT-P level 911 trucks from (4) bases in the County and (4) EMT-P level convalescent trucks from (1) base. The 911 trucks work a 24/48 schedule and the convalescent trucks work a sliding schedule based on need of trucks. Salary Range is $40,000-$45,000 include overtime.
All applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent; hold a valid driver’s license and current EMT-P credential with NCOEMS in good standing. Individuals not holding credentials from another state and/or National Registry must meet requirement of legal recognition by the NC Office of EMS. ALS candidates must possess BLS, ACLS, PALS/PEPP & PHTLS/ITLS/ATT. All candidates must possess or obtain NIMS/ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 prior to employment. Candidates are required to submit to pre-employment drug screening, motor vehicle record check and background checks.
