Rutherford County is seeking a Library Assistant. Position reports to the Library Director. Work involves circulation desk duties, assisting with branch library programming, conducting general computer classes, answering reference questions, computer assistance, and light housekeeping. Job involves contact with the general public. Min Rq. 2 year degree with at least 12 months library experience. Must be computer literate with knowledge of Mircosoft Office applications. Rutherford County Revenue Department has an Assessment Coordinator/Assistant Assessor position open: Work involves the analysis, design and implementation of commercial and residential appraising. The position will also be responsible for the defense of the evaluation methods and processes before the Board of Equalization and Review and the NC Property Tax Commission. Work is performed under limited supervision but will report to the Revenue Director. Position requires courtesy and tact dealing with the general public. $37,744 plus benefits. Min req: Combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and minimum of 3 years experience in working in municipal or County tax administration. Certification as a Real Property appraiser by the NC Dept of Revenue, within two years of employment, certification as an Assessor by the NC Department of Revenue, Completion of IAAO Appraisal Courses 101,102, and 300 and completion of NC Fundamental of Listing and Assessing. POSITION AVAILABLE: Rutherford County is seeking a full time custodian for the Department of Social Services. Position reports to the DSS Director. Work involves sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, emptying trash, cleaning restrooms, stocking supplies, reporting items needing repair, washes walls, windows, shelves, mirrors, changes light bulbs, and other duties as assigned. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Work is supervised and subject to final standards of OSHA blood borne pathogen regulations. Requires courtesy in contact with the general public. Hours 7:00 am-3:30 pm. Monday through Friday. Wages $20,792.13 plus benefits. Position Available - Rutherford County Solid Waste has a full time Convenience Center Supervisor position. Position reports to the Solid Waste Director. Position is responsible to monitor each convenience center for compliance with ordinances, rules and regulations. Performs payroll and scheduling. Assures that safety procedures are followed, receives and handles reports of equipment malfunction or failure, determines repair needs, and performs basic repairs using carpentry, electrical and maintenance skills. Position also assures that grounds and the physical environment surrounding the centers are being properly maintained. Position acts as the public relations contact for the Convenience Centers. Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma. Prefer 1-3 years of experience. Knowledge of standards and regulations of recycling preferred. Tact and courtesy working with public a must. Valid NC Drivers License required. Clean driving record and customer service skills preferred. Hours: Mon thru Fri from 6:00am to 2:30pm with some evening hours and weekend hours if needed. Position Available- Rutherford County Tourism Development Authority has a full time Director position available. The position reports to the Tourism Development Authority Board and is responsible for planning, developing, and coordinating visitor services and implementing marketing programs promoting travel and tourism within the county. The position is also responsible for maintaining a database of all tourism sites and visiting them on a regular basis, as well as, providing monthly reports to the Tourism Development Authority Board. The position manages three full time staff as well as part time staff. Minimum qualifications: four year degree from an accredited college or university in a course of study related to the occupational field and 1-3 years experience in the field, 3-5 years preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills; job requires regular contact with tourism sites and general public; excellent problem solving skills, and possession of a valid driver's license. EMT-Paramedic Full Time Position
Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services is currently accepting applications for EMT-Paramedic full time positions. Rutherford County, located in Western North Carolina consists of 564 square miles and an annual population of 64,000. Annual call volume averages 13,000 per year including the convalescent division. RCEMS operates (5) EMT-P level 911 trucks from (4) bases in the County and (4) EMT-P level convalescent trucks from (1) base. The 911 trucks work a 24/48 schedule and the convalescent trucks work a sliding schedule based on need of trucks. Salary Range is $40,000-$45,000 include overtime.
All applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent; hold a valid driver’s license and current EMT-P credential with NCOEMS in good standing. Individuals not holding credentials from another state and/or National Registry must meet requirement of legal recognition by the NC Office of EMS. ALS candidates must possess BLS, ACLS, PALS/PEPP & PHTLS/ITLS/ATT. All candidates must possess or obtain NIMS/ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 prior to employment. Candidates are required to submit to pre-employment drug screening, motor vehicle record check and background checks.

Rutherford County Sheriff's Office:
Part-Time Call Takers and Telecommunicators for 911 Communications. Position is supervised by the Communications Director. Work involves operating a computerized work station while answering emergency and non-emergency calls. Work requires ability to multi-task, ability to function in high stress situations while remaining calm, having patience with callers who are under stress, frightened or angry. Telecommunicator position(s) also involve dispatching of Law Enforcement, Medical Personnel and Firefighters. Telecommunicators and Call Takers work in a confined area under constant exposure to radio traffic, ringing telephones and conversations occurring simultaneously. Minimum requirements: Must be 21 years of age, High School Diploma, proficient in computer keyboarding and must be able to pass on site aptitude test. Potential applicant must also pass drug test and background check. Usual work schedule is twelve hours. Hours may be scheduled for days, evenings, weekends or holidays. Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office is seeking part time detention officers for the Rutherford County Detention Center. Duties include direct supervision, processing, classification, transporting and safety of inmates. Applicants must have good communication skills, be 21 years of age, have a high school diploma, pass drug test and pass an extensive criminal background check. Applicant must meet Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office requirements and be eligible for certification by NC Sheriffs’ Training and Standards Commission.
