POSITION AVAILABLE –Rutherford County has a full time Code Enforcement Officer position available.  Position reports to the Director of Building Inspections.    Duties include conducting routine inspections associated with commercial/industrial buildings and schools. Duties also involve working with contractors, developers, engineers, property owners to inspect new and remodeled buildings residential and commercial for compliance with Building, Electrical, Plumbing Mechanical, and Fire Codes.  Also provides support and interpretation of state codes, meets with property owners, assists with office responsibilities related to permit issuance and examination of building plans and construction documents for compliance with the NC State Building Codes.  Job requires working in confined spaces, on roof tops, and in attics. Minimum requirements: High School diploma, experience and/or special training in residential/commercial building, fire, electrical, mechanical or plumbing fields or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Prefer NC Standard Level III inspection certificates in Fire, Building, Electrical, Plumbing, and Mechanical.  Must have valid driver license, clean driving record. Minimum salary $29,440 negotiable depending upon education, certifications and experience plus benefits. POSITION AVAILABLE –Rutherford County has an Assistant Fire Marshal/Emergency Management Coordinator position available. Performs administrative advisory liaison and training work in coordinating the various activities of County volunteer fire departments and supports the work of the Fire Marshal/ EM Coordinator in departmental job functions.  Position is responsible for directing safety program in the county.  Work involves assisting fire departments in developing and implementing comprehensive training programs, obtaining necessary ratings, and preparing the annual budgets.  Employee is also responsible for liaison activities with the Fire Service Advisory Council and other fire service groups including fire investigations, mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery efforts as related to all hazard approach.  Min req:  Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the field of work. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid NC driver’s license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. FF1Certification by NC Fire Commission. 6-9 years of experience in firefighting. AAS in Fire Science or Emergency Management preferred.  Certification as a law enforcement officer in accordance with the North Carolina Sheriff’s Training and Standards Commission.  Certification as a Fire Investigator in accordance with the North Carolina Department of Insurance. Rutherford County Tourism Development Authority has a part time position available. The ideal candidate must be 18 years of age, have a high school diploma and 1-2 years experience in a customer service position. Must be able to handle an extremely fast-paced environment during the summer season assisting up to 600 visitors in one day.  Job requires great tact, courtesy, and a willingness to take direction. Knowledge of, and ability to share county tourism assets, attractions, restaurants, lodging and events will be required. This position will primarily work from the Welcome Center in Lake Lure, and may also assist at events, particularly with the Mobile Welcome Center. Duties include, but are not limited to, greeting visitors, answering the phone, providing written and verbal information, restocking informational brochures, completing mailings, and light cleaning. Applicant must be comfortable utilizing computers with Microsoft applications, using internet research skills and familiar with IPads and IPods.This job requires a flexible schedule which will include rotating weekends and is 29 hours per week.  This position is eligible to enroll in the NC Retirement System. Position Available- Rutherford County Tourism Development Authority has a full time Director position available. The position reports to the Tourism Development Authority Board and is responsible for planning, developing, and coordinating visitor services and implementing marketing programs promoting travel and tourism within the county. The position is also responsible for maintaining a database of all tourism sites and visiting them on a regular basis, as well as, providing monthly reports to the Tourism Development Authority Board. The position manages three full time staff as well as part time staff. Minimum qualifications: four year degree from an accredited college or university in a course of study related to the occupational field and 1-3 years experience in the field, 3-5 years preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills; job requires regular contact with tourism sites and general public; excellent problem solving skills, and possession of a valid driver's license. EMT-Paramedic Full Time Position

Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services is currently accepting applications for EMT-Paramedic full time positions. Rutherford County, located in Western North Carolina consists of 564 square miles and an annual population of 64,000.  Annual call volume averages 13,000 per year including the convalescent division.   RCEMS operates (5) EMT-P level 911 trucks from (4) bases in the County and (4) EMT-P level convalescent trucks from (1) base. The 911 trucks work a 24/48 schedule and the convalescent trucks work a sliding schedule based on need of trucks.  Salary Range is $40,000-$45,000 include overtime.

 All applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent; hold a valid driver’s license and current EMT-P credential with NCOEMS in good standing.  Individuals not holding credentials from another state and/or National Registry must meet requirement of legal recognition by the NC Office of EMS.   ALS candidates must possess BLS, ACLS, PALS/PEPP & PHTLS/ITLS/ATT.  All candidates must possess or obtain NIMS/ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 prior to employment.  Candidates are required to submit to pre-employment drug screening, motor vehicle record check and background checks.

Rutherford County Sheriff's Office:

Part-Time Call Takers and Telecommunicators for 911 Communications. Position is supervised by the Communications Director.  Work involves operating a computerized work station while answering emergency and non-emergency calls.  Work requires ability to multi-task, ability to function in high stress situations while remaining calm, having patience with callers who are under stress, frightened or angry.  Telecommunicator position(s) also involve dispatching of Law Enforcement, Medical Personnel and Firefighters. Telecommunicators and Call Takers work in a confined area under constant exposure to radio traffic, ringing telephones and conversations occurring simultaneously.  Minimum requirements: Must be 21 years of age, High School Diploma, proficient in computer keyboarding and must be able to pass on site aptitude test. Potential applicant must also pass drug test and background check. Usual work schedule is twelve hours.  Hours may be scheduled for days, evenings, weekends or holidays. Full- Time Detention Officer Position Eligibility Requirements:

Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office is seeking part time detention officers for the Rutherford County Detention Center.  Duties include direct supervision, processing, classification, transporting and safety of inmates.  Applicants must have good communication skills, be 21 years of age, have a high school diploma, pass drug test and pass an extensive criminal background check. Applicant must meet Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office requirements and be eligible for certification by NC Sheriffs’ Training and Standards Commission.  Wages:  $13.48 while training, $13.99 when certified.  Work schedule: 12 hour days/evenings, weekends and holidays.  Apply at Rutherford County Sheriffs’ Office, 198 N.
