Rutherford County has an EMS Medical Billing Technician position available.  This position works with both accounts payable and accounts receivable for EMS billing.  Work involves the review of all medical trips for patient and insurance information in order to get invoices processed and paid in a timely fashion.  Position follows up on incomplete records in order to obtain the missing documentation. Also responsible for obtaining medical necessity forms from outside agencies when required for transport. Position works closely with County Finance office to document daily deposits or collection receipts.  Preferable that the applicant have knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance practices and processes, collections, accounting practices and Microsoft Office Suite software. Position reports to the Transportation Services Director.  Hours Mon thru Fri 8:30-5:00.  Min req. POSITION AVAILABLE –Rutherford County has a full time Project Manager position available in the Public Works and Planning Department and reports to the Planning Director. Position is responsible for performing current, comprehensive and long range planning and project management. Work involves reviewing, analyzing and evaluating development applications. Also provides information regarding development requirements, ordinances, planning issues from citizens, agencies and professional planning and development persons. Writes and administers grants. Assists and facilitates Planning Commission meetings and public hearings. Responds to grievances and complaints regarding permit and subdivision denials.  Candidate must possess strong analytical and financial skills.  Min req:  four year degree from an accredited college or university in public administration or business, engineering, or a related field and 1-3 years experience. Equivalent education and experience accepted.  Valid NC driver’s license with a clean driving record. Wages $39,667 + depending upon qualifications and experience. Position Available-Rutherford County has a part -time secretary position for the Cooperative Extension  office. This position reports to the Cooperative Extension Director.  Duties include answering telephones, greeting visitors, composing correspondence and documents, scheduling appointments, opening/closing commercial kitchen and indoor farmer’s market and other duties as assigned.  Must have a thorough knowledge of grammar, punctuation, and spelling with the ability to communicate effectively.  This position must be proficient in various computer software programs including word processing and email. Requires tact, judgment, organizational skills, and the ability to deal with the general public.  Min req:  2 year degree  preferred or a combination of education and experience. $10.39 per hour. POSITION AVAILABLE –Rutherford County has a full time Fire Inspection/Code Enforcement Officer position available.  Position reports to the Director of Building Inspections.    Duties include conducting routine fire inspections associated with commercial/industrial buildings and schools. Duties also involve working with contractors, developers, engineers, property owners to inspect new and remodeled buildings residential and commercial for compliance with Fire, Building, Electrical, Plumbing and Mechanical Codes.  Also provides support and interpretation of state codes, meets with property owners, assists with office responsibilities related to permit issuance and examination of building plans and construction documents for compliance with the NC State Building Codes.  Job requires working in confined spaces, on roof tops, and in attics. Minimum requirements: High School diploma, experience and/or special training in residential/commercial building, fire, electrical, mechanical or plumbing fields or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Prefer NC Standard Level III inspection certificates in Fire, Building, Electrical, Plumbing, and Mechanical.  Must have valid driver license, clean driving record. Minimum salary $29,440 negotiable depending upon education, certifications and experience plus benefits.  POSITION AVAILABLE –Part time van driver for Rutherford County Transit Department.  Position requires ability to drive a Multi passenger vehicle.  Must also assist elderly and/or handicapped adults to board and leave the vehicle, must be able to load, secure and unload persons in wheelchairs on lift equipped vehicle.  Must be able to operate an open air radio to maintain radio contact.   Requires frequent contact with the public, courtesy, and tact. Requires knowledge of county and regional geography.  Reports to the Operations Manager. Hours are based on need up to 19 hrs/week. Transit operates from approx 6 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, wages are $9.44 per hour.  Minimum requirements: valid N.C. driver’s license, excellent driving record, five years experience as a licensed driver, graduation from high school, pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing required.  CDL preferred.  Apply Rutherford County Human Resources Department, 289 N. EMT-Paramedic Full Time Position

 

Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services is currently accepting applications for EMT-Paramedic full time positions. Rutherford County, located in Western North Carolina consists of 564 square miles and an annual population of 64,000.  Annual call volume averages 13,000 per year including the convalescent division.   RCEMS operates (5) EMT-P level 911 trucks from (4) bases in the County and (4) EMT-P level convalescent trucks from (1) base. The 911 trucks work a 24/48 schedule and the convalescent trucks work a sliding schedule based on need of trucks.  Salary Range is $40,000-$45,000 include overtime.

 All applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent; hold a valid driver’s license and current EMT-P credential with NCOEMS in good standing.  Individuals not holding credentials from another state and/or National Registry must meet requirement of legal recognition by the NC Office of EMS.   ALS candidates must possess BLS, ACLS, PALS/PEPP & PHTLS/ITLS/ATT.  All candidates must possess or obtain NIMS/ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 prior to employment.  Candidates are required to submit to pre-employment drug screening, motor vehicle record check and background checks.

Road Patrol Officer Position

 Applicants who are interested in applying for a Road Patrol Officers Position must meet the minimum criteria to apply:

  1. Successfully completed and graduated Basic Law enforcement Training (B.L.E.T.)
  2. Be a resident of Rutherford County.
  3. One year of Law Enforcement experience preferred but not required.

(Current Active Reserve Officers)

If interested in applying, you must submit a resume outlining your current training to include your current status in the Field Officers Training Program (F.T.O.). Also any other Law Enforcement experience and a hand written paragraph as to why you want to be a full-time Road Patrol Officer.

Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office is seeking part time Telecommunicators for the 911 Communications Center. Position is supervised by the Communications Director.  Work deals with operating a computerized work station, answering emergency and non-emergency calls.  Also involves dispatching, Law Enforcement, Medical Personnel and Firefighters. Work requires ability to multi-task, ability to function in high stress situations while remaining calm, having patience with callers who are under stress, frightened or angry. Telecommunicators work in a confined area where you are exposed to radio traffic, ringing telephones and conversations occurring simultaneously.  Minimum requirements: must be 21 years of age, high school diploma, pass drug test, and background check, proficient in computer keyboarding, pass on site aptitude test. Usual work schedule is twelve hours, days, evenings, weekends and holidays. Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office is seeking part time detention officers for the Rutherford County Detention Center.  Duties include direct supervision, processing, classification, transporting and safety of inmates.  Applicants must have good communication skills, be 21 years of age, have a high school diploma, pass drug test and pass an extensive criminal background check. Applicant must meet Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office requirements and be eligible for certification by NC Sheriffs’ Training and Standards Commission.  Wages:  $13.48 while training, $13.99 when certified.  Work schedule: 12 hour days/evenings, weekends and holidays.  Apply at Rutherford County Sheriffs’ Office, 198 N.
