Rutherford County Cooperative Extension has a 6 month Health Educator Position available. This is a grant funded position. Reports to the Cooperative Extension Director and agents. Under limited supervision, this position is responsible to lead programs following scripted curricula focusing on healthy lifestyles for adults and children. Also will coordinate with agencies, schools, and other entities to recruit participants and schedule program delivery, participates in weekly reporting to county agents on programs, responsible to purchase and prepare food for demonstration, conducts participant surveys and program evaluations, and assist agents in data and analysis collection. Ability to coordinate programs, excellent phone, personal and social skills, and experience teaching or conducting educational programs preferred. High School Diploma required, Associates preferred. $25.00 per hour. Hours dependent on programs. Must have valid driver’s license. Drug test and background check. POSITION AVAILABLE – Rutherford County has an opening for a Finance Technician position. Performs technical and clerical level work of an accounting nature. Reports to the Finance Director. Duties include computer data input, receipting and depositing funds, balancing accounts receivable, payroll, purchasing and general ledger. Typing and word processing, and other duties as assigned. Minimum requirements: Graduation from High School supplemented by business courses, associate degree in related field preferred. Must be proficient in computer use, including Microsoft Office, 1-3 years experience in fiscal environment or equivalent combination of education and experience. Drug testing required. COUNTY MANAGER-Rutherford County (population 67,810) a dynamic, beautiful, economically growing County located in the foothills of North Carolina, is recruiting for the position of County Manager. The Manager is the Chief Executive Officer for the county and reports to a five member Board of Commissioners. The Manager supervises the administration of all county offices, county boards, commissions, and agencies. The Manager is responsible for managing a $50 +million budget and supervising approximately 550 full/part time employees. Applicants must have an understanding of the operations and organization of public administration principles and best practices. Effective oral and verbal communication skills are essential to establish and build relationships with citizens, community leaders and organizations, businesses, government officials, media representatives, commissioners, department heads, and employees. Minimum requirements: Degree in public administration, business administration or a comparable field with a minimum of five years experiences in County Management or an equivalent combination of education and experience. POSITION AVAILABE: Rutherford County has a full time Branch Librarian position available at the Mountains Library in Lake Lure. Position reports to the County Library Director. Work involves circulation desk duties, data entry, overdue book accounts, acquisitions, cataloguing, management and training of staff and volunteers. Also requires financial management skills. Experience working with Friends of the Library is desired. Requires regular contact with the general public, county staff, trustees and commissioners. Must be able to lift 25 pounds regularly. Must be able to make public presentations, have excellent written and oral communications skills, excellent computer skills, tact and diplomacy. Work Mon thru Fri 9:00am-5:00pm, every other Sat 10:00 am-12:00pm. Position Available-Rutherford County has an Administrative Assistant position available. This position assists and supports the performance of the Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners and County Manager. Duties include answering telephones and email, greeting visitors, composing correspondence, documents, technical and statistical reports, and other materials; preparing and submitting media information (including heavy use of social media and other digital communication formats) and responding to public requests, collecting information from various sources and compiling data for routine and special reports; scheduling appointments and arranging meetings. Must have a thorough knowledge of Word, Outlook, Excel, Publisher, digital media systems, grammar, punctuation, syntax, and spelling with the ability to compose effectively in varies media. Must be able to express ideas orally and in writing, including composing accurate minutes, reports, and correspondence. This position must be proficient in various software including word processing, spread sheets, and file maintenance programs to enter, store, and/or retrieve and format information as requested or otherwise necessary. Position will update website content. Requires tact, judgment, organizational skills, and the ability to deal with a wide range of personalities. Provides direct assistance to County Management to facilitate the professional and accurate flow of information to employees and the public. POSITION AVAILABLE –Part time van driver for Rutherford County Transit Department. Position requires ability to drive a Multi passenger vehicle. Must also assist elderly and/or handicapped adults to board and leave the vehicle, must be able to load, secure and unload persons in wheelchairs on lift equipped vehicle. Must be able to operate an open air radio to maintain radio contact. Requires frequent contact with the public, courtesy, and tact. Requires knowledge of county and regional geography. Reports to the Operations Manager. Hours are based on need up to 19 hrs/week. Transit operates from approx 6 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, wages are $9.44 per hour. Minimum requirements: valid N.C. driver’s license, excellent driving record, five years experience as a licensed driver, graduation from high school, pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing required. EMT-Paramedic Full Time Position
Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services is currently accepting applications for EMT-Paramedic full time positions. Rutherford County, located in Western North Carolina consists of 564 square miles and an annual population of 64,000. Annual call volume averages 13,000 per year including the convalescent division. RCEMS operates (5) EMT-P level 911 trucks from (4) bases in the County and (4) EMT-P level convalescent trucks from (1) base. The 911 trucks work a 24/48 schedule and the convalescent trucks work a sliding schedule based on need of trucks. Salary Range is $40,000-$45,000 include overtime.
All applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent; hold a valid driver’s license and current EMT-P credential with NCOEMS in good standing. Individuals not holding credentials from another state and/or National Registry must meet requirement of legal recognition by the NC Office of EMS. ALS candidates must possess BLS, ACLS, PALS/PEPP & PHTLS/ITLS/ATT. All candidates must possess or obtain NIMS/ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 prior to employment. Candidates are required to submit to pre-employment drug screening, motor vehicle record check and background checks.
