Rutherford County Animal Control
If you are interested in adopting an animal from the shelter you will need to come by and select an animal. After choosing the animal you must fill out the adoption contract stating that you will take the animal to the veterinarian of your choice. The cost of the adoption is $60.00 for all dogs and cats. The cost includes your exam at the veterinarian's office, first rabies vaccine, first parvo/distemper vaccine, and the spay or neuter of the animal. The shelter hours are Monday thru Thursday 12:00 P.M. till 4:00 P.M. for adoptions only and Friday thru Saturday 10:00 a.m. til 2:00 p.m. for adoptions only. The shelter is closed on Sunday and major holidays. The shelter is located at 578 Laurel Hill Drive in Rutherfordton. Phone number is (828) 287-6025 or (828)287-6420 - Fax number (828) 287-6373.
