Rutherford County has a Network Administration position available. An employee in this class manages the maintenance and updating of a secure computer network by troubleshooting and providing departmental assistance.  Work includes evaluating and recommending software and hardware; troubleshooting and resolving problems; identifying appropriate training sources; implementing and maintaining a Cisco based network; as well as, an Avaya VOIP phone system.    Work requires understanding of networking and operation of personal computers; as well as, the operation of servers.  Work is performed under general supervision and is evaluated through conferences, reports, and the effectiveness of automated systems. Must be able to manage, diagnose, and solve network and phone problems; must be able to communicate effectively, must be able to lift, push, or pull 20 pounds. Must possess the visual acuity to prepare and analyze data, operate computer terminal and console, conduct visual inspections and do extensive reading. BS/BA in computer science, Information Technology or related field with five years’ experience in network administration, preferably in a government setting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Rutherford County Library is seeking a part-time Library Associate with Spanish language skills.  The ideal candidate will communicate orally and in writing in both Spanish and English; translate library handouts into Spanish; meet with members of the Spanish-speaking community; interpret for patrons; prepare library displays; help provide tours, book talks, and multi-media programs in both English and Spanish; with the help of the children’s librarian conduct bilingual story hours and other children’s programming.   Customer service experience a plus. 19 hours per week, days and location vary.  $13.13 per hour.  Background check, EOE, open until filled. Rutherford County has a Library Associate Position available:  An employee in this class is responsible for planning, outreach, programming, circulation, collection development and other activities in the library with a special emphasis on adult services.  The employee researches, plans and facilitates adult programming such as speakers, crafts, demonstrations, presentations, games and reading programs.   In addition, the employee participates in collection development, circulation, cataloguing work, reader’s advisory, technology assistance, and performs other activities. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Library Director, and is evaluated through conferences, reports, quality and quantity of services delivered, customer satisfaction, and daily observation. Considerable knowledge of books, materials and resources in adult services area of the library.  Knowledge of the operation practices of a public library and practices of library science. Knowledge of the use of library technology and social media. Must be a self-starter, able to complete projects independently, and have a team-oriented attitude. Position entails contact with the general public in person, by telephone, by email, and through all social media outlets. The applicant must present him or herself with courteous professionalism. The candidate must possess strong computer skills with Windows, Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. Must be able to perform light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Graduation from college and library experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferably a Bachelor of Arts in Library Science.

Position Available- Rutherford County Senior Center has a Floater Site Attendant position available. This position ensures adherence to Federal/State rules and regulations governing public nutrition programs.  Must conduct confidential interviews with participants, complete forms, keep records of attendance and meals served.  Employee is responsible for overseeing volunteer activities, performs some janitorial services for the site and will be responsible to fill in for route deliveries as needed.  Other duties may be assigned. Hours vary Mon-Fri, work is on an “as needed” basis. POSITION AVAILABLE –Part time van driver for Rutherford County Transit Department. Position requires ability to safely drive a Multi passenger vehicle.  Must assist elderly and/or handicapped adults to board and leave the vehicle, must be able to load, secure and unload persons in wheelchairs on a lift equipped vehicle. Must be able to operate a 2-way radio to maintain radio contact.   Requires frequent contact with the public, courtesy, and tact. Requires knowledge of county and regional geography.  Reports to the Operations Manager. Hours are based on need up to 29 hrs./week. Transit operates from approx 6 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, wages are $10.00/hour non-CDL license and $10.26/hour for CDL license.  Minimum requirements: background check, valid N.C. driver’s license, excellent driving record, five years’ experience as a licensed driver, graduation from high school, pre-employment, random, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing required.  CDL preferred but not required.  Apply Rutherford County Human Resources Department, 289 N. EMT-Paramedic Full Time Position
Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services is currently accepting applications for EMT-Paramedic full time positions. Rutherford County, located in Western North Carolina consists of 564 square miles and an annual population of 64,000.  Annual call volume averages 13,000 per year including the convalescent division.   RCEMS operates (5) EMT-P level 911 trucks from (4) bases in the County and (4) EMT-P level convalescent trucks from (1) base. The 911 trucks work a 24/48 schedule and the convalescent trucks work a sliding schedule based on need of trucks.  Salary Range is $40,000-$45,000 include overtime.  All applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent; hold a valid driver’s license and current EMT-P credential with NCOEMS in good standing.  Individuals not holding credentials from another state and/or National Registry must meet requirement of legal recognition by the NC Office of EMS.   ALS candidates must possess BLS, ACLS, PALS/PEPP & PHTLS/ITLS/ATT.  All candidates must possess or obtain NIMS/ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 prior to employment.  Candidates are required to submit to pre-employment drug screening, motor vehicle record check and background checks. Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office is seeking part time detention officers for the Rutherford County Detention Center.  Duties include direct supervision, processing, classification, transporting and safety of inmates.  Applicants must have good communication skills, be 21 years of age, have a high school diploma, pass drug test and pass an extensive criminal background check.
