Rutherford County has a Customer Service Representative position available in the Revenue Department. An employee in this class performs a variety of customer service to assist taxpayers to list property ownership or collect payments for taxes and respond to inquiries on property records and valuations. Work includes data entry of tax payments or listings into computerized databases. Accuracy is required in making calculations, in handling money, in listing and in entering data into the computer. Some independent judgment and initiative is exercised within limits of prescribed policies. Tact, courtesy and diplomacy are required in dealing with sensitive issues and/or customers. Work is performed under the supervision of a section supervisor and is evaluated by observation, review of records, periodic audits, feedback from customers and annual performance evaluations. Provides back up to other staff. Performs additional duties as required.

Position Available-Rutherford County has a Senior Elections Specialist position available. This position assists and supports the performance of the Elections Director. This position performs specialized duties involved in processing and maintaining election information, assisting candidates with campaign financing, testing voter equipment, assists in developing training materials and presenting mandatory training for precinct officials and poll workers, uploads election results and enters into State Systems, and other duties that support the elections process for the County Board of Elections. This positon serves in the absence of the Elections Director. This position must be proficient in various computer software programs including word processing, spread sheets, and file maintenance programs to enter, store, and/or retrieve and format information as requested or otherwise necessary, knowledge of state election laws, and campaign finance laws. Requires tact, judgment, organizational skills, and the ability to deal with a wide range of personalities. Min req: two year degree or a combination of education and experience involving extensive public contact. Rutherford County has a part time Program Assistant position available in the Tourism Development Department (TDA). This position provides support to the Executive Director by executing and implementing various programs and projects for the TDA office. The ideal candidate will organize fundraising efforts, recruit and supervise volunteers, oversee operations and budgets for those projects, represent Rutherford Bound and Rutherford County Beautiful projects at various county festivals and events. POSITION AVAILABLE – Part time van driver for Rutherford County Transit Department. Position requires ability to drive a multi passenger vehicle. Must also assist the elderly and/or adults with a disability to board and leave the vehicle, must be able to load, secure and unload persons in wheelchairs on lift equipped vehicle. Must be able to operate an open air radio to maintain radio contact. Requires frequent contact with the public, where courtesy, and tact is a must. Requires knowledge of county and regional geography. Reports to the Operations Manager. Hours are based on need up to 19 hrs./week. Transit operates from approx. 6 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday, wages are $10.35 per hour. Minimum requirements: valid N.C. EMT-Paramedic Full Time Position
Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services is currently accepting applications for EMT-Paramedic full time positions. Rutherford County, located in Western North Carolina consists of 564 square miles and an annual population of 64,000. Annual call volume averages 13,000 per year including the convalescent division. RCEMS operates (5) EMT-P level 911 trucks from (4) bases in the County and (4) EMT-P level convalescent trucks from (1) base. The 911 trucks work a 24/48 schedule and the convalescent trucks work a sliding schedule based on need of trucks. Salary Range is $40,000-$45,000 include overtime. All applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent; hold a valid driver’s license and current EMT-P credential with NCOEMS in good standing. Individuals not holding credentials from another state and/or National Registry must meet requirement of legal recognition by the NC Office of EMS. ALS candidates must possess BLS, ACLS, PALS/PEPP & PHTLS/ITLS/ATT. All candidates must possess or obtain NIMS/ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 prior to employment. Rutherford County Sheriff's Office:
Rutherford County Sheriff's 911 Communications is seeking to fill a Full Time – Night Shift Telecommunicator position. Hours are 6pm – 6am following the Pitman schedule. NO PHONE CALLS PLEASE.
EXPERIENCE is desired but the right candidate will be trained. Position is supervised by the Communications Director. Work involves operating a computerized work station while answering emergency and non-emergency calls. Work requires the ability to multi-task and function in high stress situations while remaining calm, having patience with callers who are under stress, frightened or angry. Position involves call taking and dispatch for Law Enforcement, Medical Personnel and Firefighters. Telecommunicators work in a confined area under constant exposure to radio traffic, ringing telephones, and conversations occurring simultaneously.
Minimum requirements: must be 18 years of age, High School Diploma, proficient in computer keyboarding, must be able to pass an onsite aptitude test. Those experienced with call handing are strongly encouraged to apply. Potential applicant must also pass drug test and background check. Hours will be scheduled weekday evenings, weekend nights, and/or holidays.
