Position Available- Rutherford County Senior Center has a part time Assistant Activity Coordinator Position available. Part-Time 19 hours per week, Mon.-Fri. Hours vary. $9.92 per hour. Under the general supervision of the Senior Center Director, under the direct supervision of the Program Manager.  Position is responsible for assisting, planning, coordinating, and implementing recreational, social, and education programs for senior citizens. Work involves planning activities, soliciting volunteers for education and social programs, assisting with Senior Games, room set-ups, and lifting up to 50 lbs. POSITION AVAILABLE –Rutherford County has a full time Code Enforcement Officer position available.  Position reports to the Director of Building Inspections.    Duties involve working with contractors, developers, engineers, and property owners to inspect new and remodeled buildings both residential and commercial for compliance with Building, Electrical, Plumbing and Mechanical Codes.  Also provides support and interpretation of state codes, meets with property owners, assists with office responsibilities related to permit issuance and examination of building plans and construction documents for compliance with the NC State Building Codes.  Job requires working in confined spaces, on roof tops, and in attics. Minimum requirements: High School diploma, experience and/or special training in residential/commercial building, electrical, mechanical or plumbing fields or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must be able to pass state certifications within time frame allocated. Must have valid driver license, clean driving record. Minimum salary $37,959 negotiable depending upon education, certifications and experience plus benefits. Rutherford County Tourism Development Authority has a part time position available. The ideal candidate must be 18 years of age, have a high school diploma and 1-2 years experience in a customer service position. Must be able to handle an extremely fast-paced environment during the summer season assisting up to 600 visitors in one day.  Job requires great tact, courtesy, and a willingness to take direction. Knowledge of, and ability to share county tourism assets, attractions, restaurants, lodging and events will be required. This position will primarily work from the Welcome Center in Lake Lure, and may also assist at events, particularly with the Mobile Welcome Center. Duties include, but are not limited to, greeting visitors, answering the phone, providing written and verbal information, restocking informational brochures, completing mailings, and some janitorial work. Applicant must be comfortable utilizing computers with Microsoft applications, using internet research skills and familiar with IPads and IPods. Position Available – Rutherford County has a part time clerical position available in the Veteran’s Office. Position reports to the Veteran’s Services Officer.  Work includes greeting visitors, answering telephones and correspondence, assists in filing of veterans and dependent claims, assists in referrals to veteran programs, updating social media sites, handling confidential information, compiling records and reports, and maintains filing system.  Work is fast paced and requires constant contact with the public; as well as, contact with officials of the local, state and federal government.  Maintains information in various databases and must maintain complete confidentiality.  Minimum requirements: graduation from high school with course work of a clerical nature and 1-3 years experience in the field.  Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office. Rutherford County Revenue Department has a Tax Technician position open: Work involves administrative, technical and customer service duties in the Assessor’s office providing general information to the public on tax laws and policies, assisting in maintaining accurate records of real and personal property, list and assesses personal property, compares listings with last years’ forms for accuracy and/or changes, utilizes price guides to assign values to personal property items, and provides customer service by telephone and in person to obtain information or resolve discrepancies.  Assists taxpayers with inquiries about tax assessments; reviews property valuation data errors; forwards real property information to appraisal division as appropriate.  Reviews and evaluates exclusion information and enters data into computer records.  Updates monthly registered (tagged) motor vehicle billing data in State billing system.  Processes bill adjustments and tax refunds as state law requires.  Maintains records and associated forms concerning workflow and completion dates and other duties as assigned.  Requires knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.  $28,982 plus benefits. POSITION AVAILABLE- Rutherford County Solid Waste Department has a part-time Truck Driver/Equipment Operator Position open.  Position is responsible for driving trucks, rolloff, hauling dirt, driving heavy equipment, bushhogging and other duties as assigned. Minimum requirements:  High School Diploma, must possess valid N.C. CDL, two years experience and a clean driving record.  Must have knowledge of safety, defensive driving skills and county geography. Rutherford County Airport has a part time Airport Service Personnel position available.  Job involves routine maintenance and operations: refueling aircraft, refueling fuel delivery trucks, positioning aircraft, maintaining runway and hanger lights, maintaining and cleaning terminal, main hanger and flight school building. Must be competent in driving a straight drive truck to fuel aircraft.  Min requirements High School diploma.  3-5 years experience in the field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.  Job requires heavy lifting and towing, inside and outside work, exposure to dust and fumes, constant contact with the general public. Position Available- Rutherford County Senior Center has a Floater Site Attendant position available. This position ensures adherence to Federal/State rules and regulations governing public nutrition programs.  Must conduct confidential interviews with participants, complete forms, keep records of attendance and meals served.  Employee is responsible for overseeing volunteer activities, performs some janitorial services for the site and will be responsible to fill in for route deliveries as needed.  Other duties may be assigned. Hours vary Mon-Fri, work is on an “as needed” basis. POSITION AVAILABLE –Part time van driver for Rutherford County Transit Department. Position requires ability to safely drive a Multi passenger vehicle.  Must assist elderly and/or handicapped adults to board and leave the vehicle, must be able to load, secure and unload persons in wheelchairs on a lift equipped vehicle. Must be able to operate a 2-way radio to maintain radio contact.   Requires frequent contact with the public, courtesy, and tact. Requires knowledge of county and regional geography.  Reports to the Operations Manager. Hours are based on need up to 29 hrs./week. EMT-Paramedic Full Time Position
Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services is currently accepting applications for EMT-Paramedic full time positions. Rutherford County, located in Western North Carolina consists of 564 square miles and an annual population of 64,000.  Annual call volume averages 13,000 per year including the convalescent division.   RCEMS operates (5) EMT-P level 911 trucks from (4) bases in the County and (4) EMT-P level convalescent trucks from (1) base. The 911 trucks work a 24/48 schedule and the convalescent trucks work a sliding schedule based on need of trucks.  Salary Range is $40,000-$45,000 include overtime.  All applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent; hold a valid driver’s license and current EMT-P credential with NCOEMS in good standing.  Individuals not holding credentials from another state and/or National Registry must meet requirement of legal recognition by the NC Office of EMS.   ALS candidates must possess BLS, ACLS, PALS/PEPP & PHTLS/ITLS/ATT.  All candidates must possess or obtain NIMS/ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 prior to employment.  Candidates are required to submit to pre-employment drug screening, motor vehicle record check and background checks. Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office is seeking part time detention officers for the Rutherford County Detention Center.  Duties include direct supervision, processing, classification, transporting and safety of inmates.  Applicants must have good communication skills, be 21 years of age, have a high school diploma, pass drug test and pass an extensive criminal background check.
