POSITION AVAILABLE –Rutherford County has a full time Code Enforcement Officer position available. Position reports to the Director of Building Inspections. Duties involve working with contractors, developers, engineers, and property owners to inspect new and remodeled buildings both residential and commercial for compliance with Building, Electrical, Plumbing and Mechanical Codes. Also provides support and interpretation of state codes, meets with property owners, assists with office responsibilities related to permit issuance and examination of building plans and construction documents for compliance with the NC State Building Codes. Job requires working in confined spaces, on roof tops, and in attics. Minimum requirements: High School diploma, experience and/or special training in residential/commercial building, electrical, mechanical or plumbing fields or equivalent combination of education and experience. Rutherford County has an EMS Operations Manager position available. An employee in this class plans, organizes and manages the operational activities of the emergency medical services for the County. Work involves participation in budget preparation and administration and personnel staffing and training, development and implementation of policies and procedures, and regulatory management and compliance for the division. The employee is responsible for equipment and facilities maintenance oversight, staff scheduling, purchasing supplies and medications, and addressing issues with patients and the public. Work requires short range planning for staffing, equipment, supplies and technology and knowledge of trends, liability issues, and rapidly changing medical sciences and protocols. Work involves a broad scope of public contacts, a variety of technical and detailed knowledge, and independent initiative and judgement. Employee must possess a thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to emergency medical and other related services.
Desirable Education and Experience
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in public or business administration or related field and considerable supervisory experience in emergency medical services; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certification by the State as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic.
5-10 years experience as paramedic with 3-5 years supervisory experience preferred
Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's
Other certifications as required by the County
Salary range $57,000-62,243 depending on experience. This is an Exempt position.

Rutherford County has an Airport Operations Manager position available. Reports to the County Manager. Under general supervision performs administrative management work in the operation, maintenance, and development of the County Airport. Work involves ensuring the Airport is operational and in compliance with all Federal Aviation Administration safety regulations. Work also involves preparing short and long range needs assessment, budget requests, hanger rental fee structures, and helps to develop and administer policies and procedures. Assists in routine maintenance and operation of the airport, such as refueling aircraft, positioning aircraft, maintaining runway lights, mowing grass, etc. Responsible for scheduling of staff, collection of fuel purchases, and day to day operational needs of the Airport. Must be able to perform heavy work involving exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Associates degree in business management or related field preferred, experience in Aviation Administration a plus. POSITION AVAILABLE –Part time van driver for Rutherford County Transit Department. Position requires ability to drive a fifteen (15) passenger van. Must assist elderly and/or handicapped adults to board and leave the vehicle, must be able to load, position, secure and unload persons in wheelchairs on lift equipped vehicle (This requires ability to pull, push, bend over, stoop and get down on hands and knees). Must be able to operate 2-way radio to maintain radio contact. Requires frequent contact with the public, courtesy, and tact. Requires knowledge of county and regional geography. Reports to the Operations Manager. Position is 29 hours per week, Monday-Friday. $10.00 per hour. EMT-Paramedic Full Time Position
Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services is currently accepting applications for EMT-Paramedic full time positions. Rutherford County, located in Western North Carolina consists of 564 square miles and an annual population of 64,000. Annual call volume averages 13,000 per year including the convalescent division. RCEMS operates (5) EMT-P level 911 trucks from (4) bases in the County and (4) EMT-P level convalescent trucks from (1) base. The 911 trucks work a 24/48 schedule and the convalescent trucks work a sliding schedule based on need of trucks. Salary Range is $40,000-$45,000 include overtime. All applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent; hold a valid driver’s license and current EMT-P credential with NCOEMS in good standing. Individuals not holding credentials from another state and/or National Registry must meet requirement of legal recognition by the NC Office of EMS. ALS candidates must possess BLS, ACLS, PALS/PEPP & PHTLS/ITLS/ATT. All candidates must possess or obtain NIMS/ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 prior to employment.
