Rutherford County Tourism Development Authority has a full time, Welcome Center Information Specialist position available at the Welcome Center located in Lake Lure, NC.  Applicant must be able to handle an extremely fast-paced environment. Knowledge of or willingness to learn, and ability to share county tourism assets, attractions, restaurants, lodging and events will be required. This position will primarily work from the Welcome Center in Lake Lure, and may also assist at occasional events. Rutherford County Revenue Department is hiring a Tax Collectors Supervisor. An employee in this class is responsible for the collection of property taxes for the County and accounting for money collected in accordance with State law governing those activities. Work includes developing and implementing programs to collect taxes, delinquent taxes, assessments and producing a variety of reports.  Work also includes planning, assigning, monitoring and evaluating work efforts of tax collections staff that collect and receipt payments and provide service to customers. Work requires the use of independent judgment, initiative and coordination of billing and collections work with other units of the County Revenue Department. Work involves extensive customer service by telephone and in person and requires considerable knowledge of the laws, policies and procedures for ad valorem and vehicle taxation and requires tact, courtesy and diplomacy in resolving customer complaints. Work is performed under the supervision of the County Revenue Director and is evaluated through conferences, by accuracy and thoroughness of work performed, by independent audit of the financial records and an annual performance evaluation. Salary $49,680 plus a healthy benefit package.   Min req:  Graduation from a four year college with a Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field and three years of experience in tax or debt collection or related experience, preferably with some supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Position Available-Rutherford County has a Transit Specialist position available. This job class performs financial and administrative work supporting the public transit department.  Work involves creating billing reports and generating monthly invoices to agencies, grants management and reporting, , coordinating new driver orientation and departmental employee training, managing department accounts payable, preparing grant reimbursements and a variety of required State reports using operating statistics, receiving driver time sheets and maintaining accurate reports, overseeing the proper use and condition of vehicle tablets.  Work also involves providing customer service to the public and other county agencies and serving as back up to the department transit scheduler.  This position must be proficient in various computer software programs including Microsoft Office with special emphasis on Excel, proprietary trip scheduling software, and file maintenance programs to enter, store, and/or retrieve and format information as requested or otherwise necessary.  Requires tact, judgment, and organizational skills. POSITION AVAILABLE- Rutherford County Solid Waste Department has a part-time Truck Driver/Equipment Operator Position open.  Position is responsible for driving trucks, rolloff, hauling dirt, driving heavy equipment, bushhogging and other duties as assigned.  Rutherford County is seeking to fill the position of Department of Social Services (DSS) Director.  Rutherford County has a population of approximately 67,000.  The Agency has an annual budget of $4.9M and there are 145 employees. The Social Services Director is responsible for administering State and Federal Social Services Programs established by Chapter 108A of the North Carolina General Statutes in accordance with applicable federal and state rules.  The Director directs other managers/supervisors, professional, paraprofessional, and support staff in the delivery of Agency services and provides leadership and direction for program development, establishing program standards and monitoring, and evaluating quality of service delivery systems.  The Director supervises budget activities and may maintain direct involvement in conflict/complaint resolution, staffing and personnel issues, and serve as the principle spokesperson for the Agency relative to program issues.  Work also involves working closely with the County Manager, County Commissioners, and other human services agencies in the County, and serving on numerous community boards.  This position is appointed by, and reports directly to, a local Board of Social Services, and indirectly to the County Manager.

 POSITION AVAILABLE –Part time van driver for Rutherford County Transit Department.  Position requires ability to drive a Multi passenger vehicle.  Must also assist elderly and/or handicapped adults to board and leave the vehicle, must be able to load, secure and unload persons in wheelchairs on lift equipped vehicle.  Must be able to operate an open air radio to maintain radio contact.   Requires frequent contact with the public, courtesy, and tact. Requires knowledge of county and regional geography.  Reports to the Operations Manager. Hours are based on need up to 19 hrs/week, possibility hours will increase to 29. EMS Positions Available:
Night Shift Supervisor  Rutherford County, NC is seeking applicants for the position of EMS Shift Supervisor on Night Shift, to perform administrative and supervisory work, supervise eight (8) employees, prepare scheduling of personnel, maintain day-to-day operations, respond to dispatched 911 calls in a QRV, and other duties as assigned.  This exempt position reports to the Operations Manager and work is conducted on a 12 hour shift Pittman schedule from 7:00pm – 7:00am.  Starting salary is $57,688 ($27.73/hour). 
Minimum Training and Experience:  High School graduate, NCEMT-P or NREMT-P, 5 years of field experience, supervisory experience or any equivalent combination of experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.  Must have a valid NC driver’s license.  Criminal background check and drug test required.

Night Shift FTO (Field Training Officer) Rutherford County, NC is seeking applicants for the position of EMS Field Training Officer (FTO) on Night Shift to perform clinical instruction, annual skills evaluation of employees, monitor clinical competence of employees on their assigned shift, and reporting.  Job functions include Assistant Supervisor as needed, responding to dispatched 911 calls, ventilator transports, clinical review of medical charts, assisting in training and administrative functions, and other duties as assigned.  This is a non-exempt position that reports to the Shift Supervisor and work is conducted on a 12 hour Pittman shift schedule from 6:00pm – 6:00am.  Starting salary is $55,014 ($23.00/hour). 
Minimum Training and Experience:  High School graduate, NCEMT-P or NREMT-P, 3 years experience of active function as an EMT-Paramedic.  Must also successfully complete FTO Course or ability to obtain within one year.  Must have a valid NC driver’s license.  Criminal background check and drug test required.

Paramedic, AEMT and EMT 12 Hour Shift positions available Rutherford County EMS is excited to announce that we are now hiring for multiple 12 hour shifts on our 911 Division. Starting wages are: Paramedic ($20.10/hour, $48,077 annual). AEMT ($16.79/hour, $40,167 annual). EMT ($16.05/hour, $38,401 annual). Annual call volume averages 13,000 per year including the convalescent division.   RCEMS operates (7) EMT-P level 911 trucks from (4) bases in the County. The 911 trucks work a 12 hour Pittman schedule.

EMS Convalescent Ambulance Position Rutherford County EMS is hiring for one position on our Convalescent ambulance.  Applicant must be a NC credentialed Paramedic, AEMT or EMT.  Work is conducted 40 hours/week Monday-Friday with semi-fixed hours based on weekly schedule of non-emergency transports.  Starting wages are: Paramedic ($20.10/hour, $41,808 annual). Rutherford County Sheriff's 911 Communications is seeking to fill Part Time Telecommunicator position(s). Training provided by a Rutherford County 911 (CTO) Certified Training Officer, who will teach the applicant the proper techniques, skills, and knowledge to become a certified Telecommunicator with this agency. Additional certification classes will also be provided through IAED, NC DCI, and NCJA. Certification requirements within the first full year of employment. 
This position is supervised by the 911 Communications Director. Work starts by learning to operate a computerized workstation while answering emergency and non-emergency phone calls, and operating additional computer programs. Work requires the ability to multi-task and function in high stress situations while remaining calm, having patience with callers who are under stress, frightened or angry. A fully trained Telecommunicator position involves Call Taking, and dispatching for Law Enforcement, Medical Personnel and Firefighters. Telecommunicators work in a confined area under constant exposure to radio traffic, ringing telephones, and conversations occurring simultaneously. Minimum requirements: must be 18 years of age, High School Diploma, proficient in computer keyboarding, must be able to pass a typing test with a minimum of 20 WPM. Additional onsite aptitude tests will be administered upon completion of a successful typing test.  Those experienced with customer service, call handing, or data entry are strongly encouraged to apply.
