Rutherford County has a part time Group Exercise Instructor position available.  The position is responsible to teach group exercises (aerobics, Tai Chai, and/or other group exercises) as appropriate for the senior population. Candidate must ensure proper safety standards are met.  Candidate prepares appropriate equipment, routines, music, and handouts for the class. Rutherford County is now hiring an IT Support Specialist.  Employee functions under the supervision of the IT Director. An employee in this class is responsible for responding to the users in the system and assisting in trouble shooting and working with hardware and software problems. Work includes tasks such as installing and configuring peripherals; managing and installing security updates; troubleshooting problems with hardware, software and peripherals and testing and repairing equipment; responding to user requests for maintenance, upgrades and service; and documenting incident calls and performing post-resolution and follow-up. Employees handle a variety of issues independently and troubleshoot concerns, but more complex technical network, server or other problems are referred to technical specialists. Work includes responding to system failures, user needs, and providing technical support for problems with the systems, and may include requirement for on-call and after hour’s response. Work requires a working knowledge of computer operations, an understanding of hardware and software on the present system, and the ability to work under pressure and when deadlines must be met by the system. Work is under general supervision and is evaluated through conferences, review of work produced, feedback from users, and observation of use of skills and technical knowledge. Min Req: graduation from a two year community college or technical school with a major in computer science or related field and experience in computer operations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. $43,442 with benefits. Rutherford County, NC is seeking applicants for the position of EMS Shift Supervisor to perform administrative and supervisory work, supervises ten (10) employees, prepare scheduling of personnel, maintains day-to-day operations, responds to dispatched 911 calls in a QRV, provides an extra ambulance by boarding a Rescue unit when needed, and other duties as assigned.  This position reports to the Operations Manager and work is conducted on a 24 hour shift.  
Minimum Training and Experience:  High School graduate, NCEMT-P or NREMT-P, 5 years of field experience, supervisory experience or any equivalent combination of experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.  Must have a valid NC driver’s license.  Criminal background check, drug test and pre-employment physical required.  Salary is $52,006 - $55,339 depending on education and experience.  POSITION AVAILABLE –Rutherford County Animal Control Facility has a full time Vet Tech position available. Reports to the Solid Waste Director.  Primary duties include providing evaluation of animals, medical care and treatment, vaccinations, medical/profile data entry, working with humane, animal rescue, animal advocate groups and the general public.  Keeps accurate records and reports on all animals housed at facility. Candidate must be able to tactfully deal with the public.  Candidate will work with inmates from the Department of Corrections on a regular basis. Min req:  Graduation from a community college with a degree in Veterinary Technology or related field and/or education and experience in animal care. Candidate must have or be readily available to obtain a rabies vaccination certification and a certification in animal euthanasia. Candidate must possess strong computer skills and possess a Valid  NC driver’s license with a clean driving record. Candidate must be familiar with County geography. POSITION AVAILABLE –Part time van driver for Rutherford County Transit Department.  Position requires ability to drive a fifteen (15) passenger van.  Must assist elderly and/or handicapped adults to board and leave the vehicle, must be able to load, position, secure and unload persons in wheelchairs on lift equipped vehicle (This requires ability to pull, push, bend over, stoop and get down on hands and knees). Must be able to operate 2-way radio to maintain radio contact. Requires frequent contact with the public, courtesy, and tact. Requires knowledge of county and regional geography.  Reports to the Operations Manager. EMT-Paramedic Full Time Position
Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services is currently accepting applications for EMT-Paramedic full time positions. Rutherford County, located in Western North Carolina consists of 564 square miles and an annual population of 64,000.  Annual call volume averages 13,000 per year including the convalescent division.   RCEMS operates (5) EMT-P level 911 trucks from (4) bases in the County and (4) EMT-P level convalescent trucks from (1) base. The 911 trucks work a 24/48 schedule and the convalescent trucks work a sliding schedule based on need of trucks.  Salary Range is $40,000-$45,000 include overtime.  All applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent; hold a valid driver’s license and current EMT-P credential with NCOEMS in good standing.  Individuals not holding credentials from another state and/or National Registry must meet requirement of legal recognition by the NC Office of EMS.   ALS candidates must possess BLS, ACLS, PALS/PEPP & PHTLS/ITLS/ATT.  All candidates must possess or obtain NIMS/ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 prior to employment.  Candidates are required to submit to pre-employment drug screening, motor vehicle record check and background checks. Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office is seeking part time detention officers for the Rutherford County Detention Center.  Duties include direct supervision, processing, classification, transporting and safety of inmates.  Applicants must have good communication skills, be 21 years of age, have a high school diploma, pass drug test and pass an extensive criminal background check.
